Miettinen is an experienced international innovation policy and instrument professional with nearly 20 years of experience in innovation systems development and innovation support, technology transfer, business development and methods in public-private – triple helix – collaboration regionally, nationally and internationally. Before the BEAM coordination, Miettinen was in Windhoek, Namibia for five years and led successfully the Southern Africa Innovation Support (SAIS) programme, funded by the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The aim of the programme was to support collaboration between the innovation systems of African countries in order to create a positive impact on economic and social development in the region.
“After five years in Africa I am really excited about this new challenge. BEAM strives for opening new innovation and business avenues for Finnish players in emerging markets around the developing world. BEAM offers an interesting tool to start looking at these rapidly growing markets with Finnish and local partners – and making the developmental impact at the same time” comments Miettinen.
