The competition will be launched under the Tekes Witty City programme, which is promoting startups with growth potential and something new to offer in the energy sector. Proposals entered for the competition by startups could involve renewable energy, energy efficiency, household energy management, transport energy solutions, fuel cells, local energy production, energy storage and smart grids.
In addition to the first prize, videos and visibility at exhibitions, the ten finalists will receive media exposure.
A panel with representation from Tekes, Finnish Energy, Expomark, Fortum and the City of Tampere will select the ten best proposals, which will be exhibited at the Tampere Energy Fair and on the Tekes website. The winner of the first prize will be selected by the public, based on an online vote as well as a poll among visitors to the trade fair. Voting will begin during the Energy Fair on 25 to 27 October. The awards will be presented on the final day of the Energy Fair – 27 October.
For the purposes of this competition, a startup company refers to a company which is registered in Finland and is a maximum of five years old.
In a proposal a maximum of 1-2 A4 pages long, tell us what kind of team operates in your company, describe your energy sector innovation and indicate where you think it will take your company and the energy sector 5 to 10 years from now. Please do not send any other attachments. Please note that, since the ten best proposals will be published at the Energy Fair and on the Tekes website, you should not include any business secrets in your proposal.
Send your suggestions to the address firstname.lastname@example.org by 10 October 2016.
When you submit your proposal, please mention whether you are willing to have a stand at the Tampere Energy Fair in the startup stand area. The fee for a stand of your own will be €400.
