Finland is the Digital Number One in the EU

A report by the European Commission rates Finland as the best in the EU in terms of human capital in the digital economy.

The related survey compared human capital in terms of use of the internet, the basic digital skills of citizens, ICT experts as a proportion of people in work and the proportion of graduates who have studied the natural sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.

The report states that Finland can be regarded as a fully developed digital society in this regard.

In a broader-based assessment of the digital economy and society, the Commission rated Finland fourth out of 28 countries. Broadband coverage was among the criteria assessed.

"In terms of our digital capabilities and resources we are in the lead, but our SMEs have yet to grasp the opportunities offered by digitalisation to the same extent as other EU frontrunners. Tekes is encouraging companies to do just that. Digital.Finland.Go! on 11 March is an open event featuring top names as presenters. Themes include the industrial internet, health technologies and the new-generation 5G networks. In addition, Tekes will soon launch a call for applications for the funding of projects that develop digital business activities. It would be great for you and your company to get involved in both," recommends Ulla Hiekkanen, Director at Tekes.
