Finland and Vietnam in closer cooperation

Tekes and Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology MOST sign cooperation agreement on 8 March 2016 .

The agreement was signed by Director General of Tekes Pekka Soini and the Deputy Minister of the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology Tran Quoc Khanh.

The agreement promotes research, development and innovation between Finland and Vietnam within ICT, cleantech, health, construction and cyber safety, among other things.

The aim is to support technology transfer and commercialisation between Finland and Vietnam and to promote cooperation between businesses and research institutes. Tekes and MOST will exchange information and best practices for the benefit of both parties and organise joint funding application processes for Finnish and Vietnamese companies and research organisations.

The agreement supports the BEAM programme organised jointly by Tekes and the Finland's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the aim of strengthening and creating new sustainable business opportunities in emerging markets. BEAM supports the development of innovation and gives a boost to the private sector, benefiting both the emerging countries and Finland.
The funding application process is scheduled to start during summer 2016.

"As Vietnam in steadily integrating into the international trading system and free trade, Finland will have many new business and cooperation opportunities in Vietnam," says Minh Lam, head of the BEAM programme.
