The Economist magazine’s special report casts a positive light on Nordic countries

The British magazine The Economist published an extensive article on the Nordic countries at the beginning of February. The message is clear: other western countries should learn from the Nordic model of welfare, which is being reformed in innovative ways.

From Finland, the magazine highlights the business R&D funding models of Tekes and Finnvera and Aalto University's Startup Sauna. These have contributed to the creation of a lot of new start up companies in Finland.

Special mention was also made of the Finnish school system, which is considered to be one of the most progressive in the world.

According to the magazine the success of the Nordic countries is due to honesty and transparency, which define the government culture.
