Tekes to take over capital investments in startups with high potential from Finnvera

The Ministry of Employment and the Economy has decided to centralise public risk funding for startup companies with a high growth potential to Tekes.

Tekes currently offers risk funding for startup companies with high growth potential in the form of grants and loans, while Finnvera makes capital investments. After the transfer, all public risk funding for such companies will be managed under one roof. This will simplify the public risk funding intended for startup companies with high growth potential.

”The decision has been made in principle, and we will now start discussing the details and schedule of the transfer with Finnvera”, says Pekka Soini, Director General of Tekes.

The goal is that Tekes could start capital investment operations in 2013 or in early 2014 at the latest. Until that time, these operations will continue to be managed by Finnvera.
