Finland will be a partner country in Open Innovations Forum (OIF) which will be held at Moscow Crocus City from October 31st to November 2nd.
During three days there will be
- a large high level forum with several sessions and panel discussions
- an exhibition presenting innovations and innovation actors
- presentation of 100 young innovators
- business meetings and high level negotiations
Prime Ministers from Russia and both partner countries, Finland and France, will participate in the plenary session. Dmitry Medvedev, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Jyrki Katainen, Prime Minister of the Republic of Finland, and Jean-Marc Ayraylt, Prime Minister of the French Republic, will discuss at the plenary session under the topic Proven state leadership strategies in a hyper connected world.
Finland will be chairing two sessions at the Forum, one on future innovation policy and another one dealing with the challenge how to make new business from knowledge and research.
The first session will cover actual innovation policy questions from supply to demand-side, fuelled by smart innovation policy. The speakers will discuss how to boost entrepreneurship? What is needed from the society and the government? The session will be arranged by the the Finnish Ministry of Employment and the Economy and Tekes.
The speakers will be Jaani Heinonen from the Finnish Ministry of Employment and the Economy, Fleur Pellerin, French Minister Delegate with responsibility for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, Innovation and the Digital Economy, Pekka Soini from Tekes, the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovations, Sergey Polyakov from the Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovation Enterprises FASIE, Alexey Komissarov, Minister of Industrial Policy, Research and Entrepreneurship in Moscow Government, Artem Shadrin from Russian Ministry of Economic Development and Oleg Syutin,Skolkovo Foundation. Anna Sorainen will moderate the discussion.
At this session Tekes and Skolkovo will launch a joint framework funding programme and first call for applications for companies.
The Ministry of Education and Culture will arrange another Finland country track on the topic New business from knowledge and research. On this session there will be speakers from universities and organisations. The discussion will be moderated by Marja Makarow from the Academy of Finland.
Pekka Soini, Director General of Tekes will also participate in the panel which concentrates to the question "The state as a venture investor". Dr Tuula Teeri, President of Aalto University, will participate in the discussion of Education for the 21st Century. There will also be more Finnish speakers on other sessions of the Forum.
On the exhibition area there will be a joint Team Finland stand. There will be a joint funding clinic arranged by Tekes, Finnvera and Invest in Finland. On the stand there will also be Finnish universities introducing the results of their research and a group of nanotechnology companies to present their products and achievements.
Also this year OIF has selected 100 most promising Young Innovators from Russia and other countries. At OIF they have an opportunity to present their ideas to investors and to consult the leading experts.
