Team Finland funding application round and international services under the theme 'Sustainable Growth'

Application period: Mon 22.12.2014 - Wed 15.04.2015

In cooperation with other Team Finland players, Tekes is preparing a call for funding applications aimed at companies, research organisations and for joint projects between them, under the theme of sustainable business.

The application round is part of the Team Finland campaign launched in January 2015 to stimulate Finnish SME activity in the cleantech and bioeconomy sectors. The campaign will make use of the services of Team Finland partners in a new way.

We are looking for projects, run by companies and research organisations, which promote the growth and renewal of SMEs' international business activities. Piloting and demo projects by companies are particularly welcome.

The application round is Tekes' key contribution under this theme in 2015.

Now is the time to make an impact!

We welcome proposals from companies on how to meet the theme area's key challenges and future goals, and on the needs associated with companies' internationalisation, as a feed-in for the planning of more detailed themes for the application round and campaign.

You can submit your perspective on the theme via Tekes' Test your idea service, by selecting 'Other, please specify?' in the 'This contact is related to' section and adding the text 'Sustainable Growth'. Proposals can also be submitted directly to contact persons.

Joint conversations will be held on the themes of the new call for funding applications in conjunction with various events. A more detailed call for applications will be published at the beginning of February. Tekes will organise an info and discussion session on the application process in February, and a sparring day in March. Further information will be given on the Team Finland campaign "Sustainable Growth" in January.

The closing date for applications by research organisations is 28 April 2015. The planning of public research projects for which Tekes funding is being sought must be based on close cooperation between research organisations and companies.

Companies can submit applications to Tekes on a continuous basis in the normal manner throughout the campaign or afterwards, but applications for funding based on this overall campaign must be submitted to Tekes between 22 December 2014 to 28 April 2015.

Project types

Based on the new application round Tekes will fund:

  1. projects by SMEs, which promote business growth, reinvention and internationalisation.
  2. parallel projects between research organisations and companies
    - further information on parallel projects
  3. multidisciplinary research projects by research organisations, based on public research networked with companies.
    - further information about projects networked with companies

In projects based on public research networked with companies, the companies' contribution must account for at least 10 % of the approved project costs.

In particular, it is hoped the call will generate projects that will create entirely new innovations for the cleantech and bioeconomy markets as well as piloting and demonstration projects for operating models, products and services. Special attention must be given to how the outcomes and new know-how generated by public research projects can be used to benefit Finnish businesses.
