Gateway to UK
Gateway to UK is Team Finland activity which builds channels and networks between Finnish health technology companies and the health and social care markets in the United Kingdom.
Ultimately, the aim is to increase the export of Finnish health technology companies as well as increase the foreign investments in Finland. These are initiated through various actions (e.g. customer meetings, workshops, trade show participations) leading to direct or indirect business opportunities in UK and/or in Finland, for example via collaborations, pilots or joint ventures.
The main target in the UK is the public sector, i.e. National Health Service (the NHS, consisting of NHS England, NHS Scotland, NHS Wales and NHS Northern Ireland). Other stakeholders, acting as collaborators or business partners, may include UK health technology companies, local universities, NHS organisations (Academic Health Science Network and MedCity), local consultants and experts, UK government offices (UK Trade and Investment and Innovate UK) and venture capitalists.
Gateway to UK leverages the high quality and reputation of Finnish innovations in healthcare and meets the recognized opportunities, e.g. at NHS the urgent need for new solutions and savings. We now welcome all sized Finnish health technology companies to join us and Team Finland activities!
Gateway to UK is part of Team Finland Health Growth Program and Tekes Bits of Health program and is managed by Team Finland organisations Tekes and Finpro, collaborating with Finnvera, ELY Centres, Sitra, Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment and Embassy of Finland London.

In order to help the companies with the best possible tools and to find best timing for Team Finland help, we will do an individual assessment for each participant. The purpose of this is to evaluate the level of readiness of the company to the UK market and NHS as well as the type of support needed. For example, to enter negotiations with the NHS, the company needs references, which can be generated through pilots in Finland. Secondly, e.g. further financing may be needed to be fit for the market.

In order to enable full public support, the activities are mainly planned and directed to company groups' activities, not to individual company's particular needs. With this model the participation is free of charge, however the travel costs are covered by companies themselves. Some future activities may be only partly financed by the organisers.
